June 2008 Update - What (some of) you missed! !
Well done to all concerned with the first, very successful, Black Dog Art Trail. A big thanks to Brüer Tidman for his invaluable help as Artistic Director and to the other artists who took part.
Our Spring Social went well. It was interesting to see other peoples’ work and we had a good natter and loads of nibbles. We had an excellent trip to Tate Modern, everyone enjoyed it – we all did various things and we got back to the coach on time! Our craft workshops at Hobbyhorse, Knit & Yarn and the Riverside Centre went well. We found all sorts of things to do with plastic, wool, wire and embellishments!
Anne Paton’s Walberswick Workshop was a huge success. We spent the morning out and about at the harbour or sea. We all had to do eight small studies using different media for each sketch. Then in the afternoon we used our small sketches as the basis for larger compositions – with some excellent results! :
So onto what’s coming up –
Fri 13 June – Katarzyna Coleman - Riverside Centre 11.00 – 4.00. Bring a packed lunch. Acclaimed artist Katarzyna works with a wide variety of black and white media including charcoal, graphite, ink, pastels, chalks etc etc etc – to create huge dramatic and atmospheric black and white drawings. She creates one layer and then fixes it. Then she works into the first layer making the darks ever darker and using putty and plastic rubbers to create gashes of white light. Then she fixes the second layer and so on. The final results are almost 3D. The day costs £25 full price and £20 concessions (over 50s, people on benefits, students) Don’t miss it – book your place NOW!
Mon 16 June – Our final Bungay a Town of Letters workshop at So and Sews, Upper Olland St. Verona will give us ideas on raw edged appliqué work 1.30 – 4.30. FREE – all materials supplied.

So far we have 29 booked but we can book a larger coach so bring your family/friends.
