Harvey Rathbone B.Mus., L.G.S.M ~ Conductor

Harvey Rathbone comes from Warwickshire, where he was a lay clerk at Coventry Cathedral and a member of the BBC Midland Singers.

He studied at London University, and the Guildhall school of Music, where he was awarded prizes for French and English Song, Lieder and Oratorio. He was chosen to sing the baritone solos in the four colleges performance of Mahler's Symphony No. 8 in the Royal Albert Hall.

Harvey has been involved with some of Britain's leading choral groups, including the BBC Singers, London Sinfonietta Chorus, London Voices, Richard Hickox Singers, The Ambrosian Singers, The Spieglers, St. Paul's Cathedral Choir and Westminster Abbey Choir. His repertoire ranges extensively from early music to the 20th. Century, with performances throughout this country and Europe.Radio broadcasts include a series of eight programmes of Peter Warlock's songs for Radio 3.

Between 1973 - 1986 he taught singing and musicianship to B.Mus. students at London University's Goldsmith's College. Harvey was also Director of music at Highgate Junior School for nine years.

He now combines teaching in schools in East Anglia with an active involvement in The British & International Federation of Festivals for Music Dance & Speech, adjudicating and giving workshops and master classes at festivals around the British Isles.

He took over the post of conductor of the Bungay Choral Society in January 2006.
