FLOWER CLUB NEWS
2007 Silver Jubilee Year
Open Afternoon
The Bungay Flower Club's Open Afternoon held on Friday, 8th June last, at Wortwell Village Hall, was certainly the best one yet! The celebration in 2007 of the club's twenty five years is continuing in fine style when the Area President, Mrs. Janet Elmy, the Area Chairman, Mrs Sue Brinton, the Area Treasurer, Mrs. Maryan Fidler, and the Group Chairman, Mrs. Yvonne Organ all attended the celebration. Mrs. Sue Brinton and the Club's Chairman, Mrs. Christine Sampson cut the huge celebration cake which members enjoyed with their cream tea later that afternoon.
The Demonstrator, Mr. Alan Smith, a great favourite with Bungay Flower Club Members, held the audience spellbound with his stunning exhibits entitled "Happy Anniversary" all of which were raffled off afterwards.
There were many very happy people leaving Wortwell clutching his beautiful arrangements.
It was sad the club's Founder President, Mrs. Bunty Eke as well as Mrs. Dorothy Stevens, the Club's President were unable to be present due to ill health but Mrs. Joan Fenn, a Founder Member of the Club, stepped in at short notice and amused the 140 strong audience of flower clubs from both Suffolk, Norfolk and Cambridgeshire, with her Vote of Thanks to the demonstrator.
The Cream Tea, organised by the Club's Catering Officer, Mrs.Pat Wong, was absolutely delightful, supplied by Mrs. Pam White's Catering and was followed by drawing the raffle. There were several stalls available for guests to enjoy too.

The next celebration will be The Flower Festival to be held in St. Mary's Church Bungay, on 7th, 8th and 9th September, and the Open Day, again to be held at Wortwell, on Friday 26th October, with Mr. Alan Gray of The Vicarage Gardens, East Ruston as the morning speaker, and after a delicious lunch, Mrs. Carole Firmstone demonstrating in the afternoon entitled "Silver Sensations".
Suffolk Show
At the Suffolk Show held on 30th and 31st May, two members, i.e. Mrs. Daphne Francis and Mrs. Beryl Logg from The Bungay Flower Club achieved a 3rd place in Class 1, Club Class, entitled “The World Today”.
As all flower arranging competitors will know, the first time entering a competition such as The Suffolk Show is a very daunting affair and consequently they were both absolutely delighted with their award.
