BUNGAY FLOWER CLUB

In 2007 the Bungay Flower Club celebrated its 25th Anniversary. Founded by several enthusiastic members and Founder President Mrs. Bunty Eke, the Club has gone from strength to strength.

Currently there are approximately 53 members and at each Cub Night, possibly four or more guests. These monthly meetings are well attended – for nine out of twelve months there is an Area or National demonstrator, an exercise for members, trading stall, a popular revenue producing plant stall, a widely acclaimed sales table, a publication table and of course a raffle.

During the year there is also a Members Evening, when something special is arranged, involving members producing arrangements and the visiting demonstrator judges their efforts.

A Garden Meeting is included in the annual calendar. The club has two Open Meetings each year, one in May for ‘Ladies that Lunch’…. (Luncheon followed by a demonstration). The Open Day event is held in October with a morning speaker, a luncheon and an afternoon demonstration. These events are limited to 140 and are always sold out well in advance.

Bi-annually the club arranges a Flower Festival in one of the local churches and of course members participate in Festivals in the Area hosted by other clubs.

Our membership can boast Chelsea medal winners, Norfolk, Suffolk, Aztec and other major show achievers. A talented and lively membership. Periodic outings are arranged for members too.

A group will attend Barry Grey’s Workshop (for second time in two years); lunches happen at local watering holes, a convivial Christmas dinner with wonderful hamper prizes and coach trips to other flower festivals and clubs, etc. The Committee works very hard to keep members interested and active.
