Dressmaking and Alterations Service
Hobbyhorse offers a general dressmaking and
alterations service for adults and children’s clothing.
Some of the work to date has included:
- Zips in skirts, trousers, jackets, shirts
- Hems up on trousers, skirts, coats
- Take in’s on dresses, trousers, skirts, shirts
- Adaptations to fastenings i.e hooks to button holes, zips to lace-ups
- Repairs to handbags & cushion covers
- Lining quilting
- Hems for tablecloths
- Design work for exhibitions
- Full garment construction for special occasions
No job is too big or too small!
Full garment construction or alterations to special
occasion garments that may require more than one fitting please give at least 6 weeks notice.
Repair and alterations are charged at an hourly rate of £8. A charge for materials, component for the repair i.e.zips, snaps etc. are charged extra.
Cost example: Cotton trousers requiring a new machined hem.
Unpick the original hem, measure and cut new lwngth, thread machine with new cotton, pin ant tack if necessary, machine hem and press hem. Approximate time 40mins Cost £5 - £6
