Dave Gladwell's Fishing Tips

John Wilson said on his review page 93 Sunday Express 20 July " I have been sent an intersting selection of books for review during recent weeks, so here's five of the best. The first, "Angling for All" by National Federation of Anglers Coach Dave Gladwell comes from Mayhem Publishing of Norwich 01508 518798 price £5.00. This is not a lengthy book, just 64 pages, and is slanted towards coarse anglers within the beginner and improver bracket, especially youngsters and their parents, expertly covering the basics of angling for the silver shoal species, plus tench and perch and pike. With sections on fish characteristics, baits and groundbaits, float fishing, ledgering and making your own tackle, it is jam packed full of useful information, and has been purposefully written and designed to take fishing with you." nice 4 little coloured picture of the cover in with the other books was included. Book is under reprint.

"ANGLING FOR ALL"

A new and "different" publication designed to be of use for those coming into Coarse fishing as "Beginners and Improvers".

Particularly slanted for young anglers and interested parents and grandparents helping out looking to worthily dedicate their "Quality Time"

64 pages @ £5 on how to catch the six main species of "Silver" fish and tench, (Carp deliberately excluded) particularly in rivers and lakes. Will be available 7th June 2003 from fishing tackle shops or by emailing Fishing Book with your name and address. Please add 65p postage and packing.

Dave Gladwell writes

"When towing the Country in August 2000 as a Coach with the first ever highly successful national Federation of Angler's Angling "Roadshow", two things were driven home very strongly to me.

Firstly that Coarse Angling is still a sport from which families with severely limited financial resources derive many hours of pleasure, but not everyone is in a position to lash put loads of cash. There is a great need because of this for sound advice on economic value and appropriate affordable equipment.

Secondly, that Parents are looking for advice and guidance as they sincerely endeavour to become interested in their children's leisure pursuits and "Quality" time together, often starting from a zero knowledge base. Herein I try to bring these points into a realistic beneficial perspective."

Having received a copy of this book it really is a "must have" for all budding anglers. With a wealth of information about buying the first fishing rod (at only £3.99), baits, making your own floats, making a Wonder Wormery and tips on catching fish, Dave's knowledge and love of the sport is instantly apparent. His enthusiasm is infectious and, having been taught to fish at a very early age by a neighbour Dave tries to teach others, handing down knowledge and experience of this absorbing and fascinating sport.

Designed as a "take it with you" handbook it will easily fit into a pocket, tackle box or rucksack and what better way to wait for that bite than learning even more about the sport.

The book is illustrated with diagrams of various techniques, photos and pictures of Dave's paintings.
