St Mary's Church Tower Open Day - 12th September 2004

Andy Atterwill took part in the tour to the top of St Mary's Church. This was a special occasion as the tower is normally kept locked but was organosed by the Friends of St Mary's. He was able to take the following photos

With perfect weather conditions the church tower open day proved to be very popular with locals and visitors to the town. The hardy souls who braved the 100+ steps to the roof were rewarded with magnificent views across the town and surrounding Waveney valley.

St Mary's Church - the tower is about 80 ft. high

This used to be taken to all the pubs to collect ale for the bell ringers
