Paul Eagles's Dart Tournament results photos

Who is Paul Eagle and what is this tournament ?

Bungay born Paul is quite simply a remarkable young man who, whilst still in his teens, was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma or Hodgkins Disease which is a cancer of the lymph tissue.

He battled through chemotherapy, sometimes so ill but at no time was there any talk about not getting better. He battled with this in his own way and, at the very start of his treatment he was thrilled to learn that his lovely girlfriend Jemma was expecting. Whilst still undergoing treatment at the Sandra Chapman Centre, Paul wanted to raise money for the place that had looked after him so well and so the wheels were set in motion with various events such as roller cycling, auctions and of course the dart tournaments. Paul and Jemma, married by now with young Toyah, planned all the events with the help of his uncle Trevor Page and his wife Maureen.

mens winner 2008Wendy and Ray Tooke of the Chaucer Club were the most incredible supporters of all that Paul did, sponsoring trophies, the use of the hall, providing refreshments, again, with the help of Jemma and now, eight years on the tournament attracts dart players from all over the region.

Paul receives checkups regularly from the Sandra Chapman and three years ago Jemma gave birth to another daughter Emily.

Nothing has come in the way of his fund raising. He has approached darts players for donations and John Part the current WDC Champion sent a signed shirt which raised £65 at auction on Saturday 23rd February when 81 men and 32 ladies dart players plus supporters attended the 8th tournament which raised a fantastic £710 (see pictures).

Paul was thrilled - he now has furnished a room at the Sandra Chapman Centre so that others undergoing the same treatment can do so in comfort in the 5 chairs that he has bought, watch the flat screen TV and rather than being curtained off, patients can if they wish sit with others whilst undergoing this gruelling treatment,

In addition to the treatment room Paul has bought various other items of equipment for the Sandra Chapman centre and these add up to another £4000.

The fundraising continues and Paul is so grateful to everyone who has helped in any way to help those who need treatment at The Sandra Chapman centre

So, in answer to my first question "Who is Paul Eagle" He is an exceptional young man, a devoted father to Toyah and Emily, husband to Jemma, a wonderful son and I am so very proud to write this because he is my husbands grandson.
