Bungay Garden Street Market - 23rd May 2004

The fine weather drew people in their thousands onto the streets of Bungay for the annual Garden Street Market. Earsham street was closed for the occassion to make way for the many stalls selling plants and garden wares of all description.

But it was not just a market for the green fingered. Alongside the garden stalls there were others selling antiques, fairy houses, soaps, jewellery as well as a craft fair in the Fisher Theatre.

For the hungry there was a real cosmopolitan choice. As well as the British favourites of burgers, hot dogs, hog roasts, chips and ice cream it was possible to experience a taste of the far east thanks to the Bahn Thai restaurant who provided the more exotic flavours of Thailand.

Entertainment was provided throughout the day by various street entertainers and "law and order" was kept by the ever popular Pink Policeman.

Jackie Bell of Sherriff & Bell said that it was a tremendous day. There was a lovely atmosphere, business was brisk, the weather was great and the amount of people attending was quite amazing.

Sincere thanks to Trevor Page for this report and photos - for more photos click here
