The Diary of The Town Reeve
Where has this year gone? It seems like only yesterday I decided to start keeping a diary and this is my penultimate report! Again it has been a relatively quiet month. Towards the end of September I attended the Nelson Mass at St Mary's Church performed by Bungay Choral Society. This was extremely enjoyable and it was great to see so many people there. Then I went to Bury St Edmunds to attend the County Harvest Festival at the Cathedral which is always a special event on the calendar. Awards were given to agriculture workers for long service, one gentleman had worked on the same farm for 62 years - I can't imagine the changes he must have seen over the years! Next was the Civic Service at Needham Market, this was a really nice event as local school children were involved. The church is very unusual with a stunning roof, if you are passing Needham do pop in and take a look. The week after the production the Town Dinner takes place on December 2nd - being the culmination of my year of office.. Otherwise I have been sorting out details for the Town Dinner which takes place on December 2nd - tickets will be available from early November. As Reeve I get to pick the menu, but contrary to public opinion it does not consist entirely of desserts! As well as this I have been busy rehearsing for Bungay Theatre Group's next production called Murdered to Death. I am playing the part of a rather dozy Inspector by the name of Pratt! The show takes place on November 24th, 25th and 26th at Bungay Honeypot Centre and tickets can be obtained from Bungay Pet Stores or from me on 01986 893284. Please come along if you can and support live theatre in your community. Stephen Went.
