What is Reflexology

Reflexology is a natural, holistic therapy (treating the body as a whole), based on there being points on the feet and hands which, correspond to parts and systems of the entire body. By applying gentle but firm pressure to these areas known as reflex points, imbalances within the body can be detected and effectively treated to restore balance, and harmony and will benefit a variety of conditions, physically, mentally and emotionally.

Brief History

Reflexology can be traced back to the Ancient Egyptians. There is documentation of the use of this therapy depicted by paintings in tombs showing slaves working on the feet of Pharaohs. It has been used in China, Japan and India for centuries. Native Americans also have traditionally used the feet as a means of effective healing of the body.

What Can You Expect

Each session will last approximately 1 hour. The first session will be a little longer as it is necessary to complete a detailed consultation form covering all aspects of your health and lifestyle. Any particular problems can also be discussed or any queries regarding the treatment.

The procedure should make you feel relaxed and calm. You will be seated comfortably in a reclining chair and your feet will be relaxed using massage techniques. The reflex points are then worked on using gentle movements to help release any blockages allowing your natural energy (chi) to flow. This encourages the body to heal itself. Contrary to popular belief, Reflexology does not tickle.

Is Reflexology suitable for everyone

Reflexology is suitable for anyone of any age (children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult) There are a few medical conditions that cannot be treated or may need your GP's permission - this is why a consultation must be done before treatment begins.

Reflexology can help with stress related problems, sinus/congestion, insomnia, headache/migraine, chronic fatigue / ME, menstrual problems, IBS, tension and much much more..
